Stratigraphic range extension of the turtle Boremys pulchra (Testudinata, Baenidae) through at least the uppermost Cretaceous

New material of the derived baenid turtle Boremys pulchra from Hell Creek Formation Montana extends stratigraphic range taxon through at minimum latest Maastrichtian. Previously, species was constrained to Campanian and Alberta, so this extension constitutes least 5 million years. Due fossil reworking Bug Anthills assemblage, where Maastrichtian Paleocene deposits are mixed, a definitive for B. cannot currently include strata. However, presence in Cretaceous strata, previous identification sp. general success taxa across K–Pg boundary, make it quite plausible that survived extinction event previously described probably represents new taxon. A beyond indicates paleoenvironmental conditions Cretaceous, adaptation locally heterogeneous aquatic habitats paleotemperature fluctuations may have facilitated survivorship. Additionally, ectoparasitic bore marks on specimen here can be attributed ichnotaxon Karethraichnus lakkos .
